Register a domain name for findability in search engines such as Google? Do not!

We regularly speak to entrepreneurs who indicate that they have registered a domain name with which they expect that they will score high in search engines such as Google. Nonsense! No use!

The thinking is often the following:

Example: My website is bags.com. Through this site I sell different types of bags such as carrier bags, sports bags and shopping bags. Is it now wise to buy the domain names such as sportbags.com and shoppingbags.com and refer them to my website bags.com? I read somewhere that the keyword – with which customers search for my products – in the domain name ensures that I come to the top in search engines such as Google.

An empty website (domain name) never scores in search engines like Google

Exact Match Domains. These are domain names with an exact match to the specified keyword . Think of onlinemarketing.com for the keyword ‘online marketing’ or even articlewritter.com for the keyword ‘article writter’. Are such domain names good for the findability in search engines such as Google for these keywords? If you only register a domain name – and refer it to your (main) website, for example – it will never rank in the search results of search engines like Google! Search engines like Google want to show relevant content (content is the CONTENT of a website) . Unique content that is useful to the visitor and is relevant to the specified keyword. With just a domain name (read: physically empty website ) you will never score in the search results of search engines such as Google, because there is nothing on the domain name to score on.

It is also sometimes thought that registering a .COM domain name (in addition to your .ORG domain name) and forwarding it to your .US domain name, for example, makes your website findable for English speakers. Nothing could be further from the truth.! Again, if there is no physical content on the domain name, a domain name is of no use for the findability in search engines.

In short: it makes no sense to register a domain name without content to score with search engines like Google.

We do, however, always advise you to register as much of your domain name as possible (extensions (.US .COM .EU .DE .BE .SHOP etc..) This way someone else can never get your (domain) name.!

When is it useful?

  • Typos: suppose you have a domain name that is a bit difficult to spell. It may then be wise to register the different variants of this pronunciation and typing method and to refer them to the correct website. Visit the website www.coolbleu.nl and see what happens in the address bar. You will be automatically redirected to www.coolblue.nl . Also www.wekamp.nl (without the h..) will redirect you to www.wehkamp.nl . But also for domain names with numbers in them, it is smart to register them with numbers and as a typed variant. For example: sun4all.nl and sunforall.nl. And perhaps even the domain name sunvierall.nl.
  • Communication: If you have a difficult, long or difficult to spell domain name and you advertise on the radio, for example, it may be wise to register another domain name that fits well with the commercial/message. You can also register so-called ‘communication domain names’ for products and services. For example, action. Real estate agents often use the street name + house number as the domain name. For example www.kielerbocht5.nl . Instead of interested buyers having to search the broker’s website, they are directly referred to the right property on the site by means of a specific domain name.
  • Competition: Brand and/or product protection. For a few dollars a year you can register a .com domain name so that competitors cannot use it.
  • Future: Register domain names for potential future developments or for a new idea.

Provide Content

If you nevertheless want to register a domain name for findability in search engines such as Google , it is therefore important to place relevant and valuable content on it. Unique content! Findability of a website and/or webpage has everything to do with the content. The right keywords in the right places in the text. But also with so-called ‘rich content’. This is content that, in addition to text, also consists of images, video, audio, documents such as PDF, blog, comments, etc. The more of these factors you process on a website/web page, the better it will rank in the search results of search engines such as google.

In addition, the findability of a domain name stands or falls with its popularity. A domain name (read: website / webpage) is popular in the eyes of search engines such as Google because of the quality and quantity of the incoming links . These are other websites that point to your domain name. In short: to make a domain name findable in search engines, you really have to work to promote it; Collect incoming links, regularly place new (rich) content, etc.. If you do this well, you will score high in the search results (for certain keywords).!

Send your customers directly to Google Reviews

A large majority of consumers indicate that they check the reviews of a company via Google Reviews and decide whether or not to make a purchase / become a customer on that basis. It is therefore important to collect positive reviews via Google because these are displayed in your Google My Business (Google Search and Google Maps).

What is Google My Business and what are Google Reviews?

Research shows that the majority of respondents read the online reviews of companies and really trust these online reviews. Positive reviews can therefore make the difference whether a new customer chooses you or the competitor. An online review has the same effect as word of mouth.

It is important for every company to be optimally visible online. Furthermore, it is important for every company to collect positive reviews/recommendations. Both help you to acquire new customers. Your ‘Google My Business’ profile plays an important role in this. How do you get those reviews on Google? And what is Google My Business?

Google My Business increases customer engagement on Google! Google My Business is a free service from Google that allows you to influence the online visibility of your business within Google Search (Google Search) and Google Maps. A big advantage of a good and complete company profile on Google My Business is that you are better and easier to reach for your customers. To find, for example, your telephone number and/or opening hours, customers do not have to visit your website or webshop first and search. This (company) data is immediately visible in the search results. The reviews of your company are also visible in this ‘Google My Business’ display in the form of a number of stars and a score. By clicking on this one can read the Google Reviews of your company. The more positive/highly rated Google Reviews, the better your business ranks in local search results!

Send visitors directly to Google Reviews

The number of Google Reviews and the score are included in the ranking of local search results. The more positive/highly rated Google Reviews, the better a company’s position is in local search results. It is only difficult to send a customer here because it takes several steps to post a Google Review. However, you can generate a link with which you can immediately let visitors write a Google Review.

Actively request a Google Review

Use Google Reviews and ask your customers to post a positive message about your product/service. With such a link as above you can invite your customers to write a Google Review. Make it part of your work. For example, three or four days after delivering the product or service.

Dear Alexander,

Last Tuesday you followed the 1-day Content Marketing training with us. We hope you can continue with the tips and techniques we’ve given you. If you have any questions, if you are unable to find a solution or if you want us to think along with you about a certain subject, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to help you!

Would you like to write a review for us? This can be done by posting a review on our Google business listing through Google Reviews. You can place a review with this link and it will take you no more than two to three minutes. Don’t feel obligated.. but we would really appreciate it!

We notice that reviews with text are posted faster and more often than reviews with only a number of stars. This often has to do with the filters that Google uses to prevent fraud. Google does everything it can to keep the quality and reliability of the reviews as high as possible. Do you also write a (short) text? Thank you very much.

Have a nice day and have a good weekend.

Convert your personal Facebook profile to a business Facebook page

It is possible that you use a personal Facebook profile for your business. However, this is against Facebook’s rules. Facebook may even decide to delete your personal Facebook profile if it is discovered to be used for commercial purposes. So always choose a (business) Facebook page if you become/are active on Facebook with your company.

For those who haven’t, there’s good news. You can easily copy/convert your personal Facebook profile to a (business) Facebook page, so that all your friends become your (business) fans.

Some advantages of a business Facebook company page compared to a personal Facebook profile

  • A Facebook page has a professional business look
  • You can receive customer reviews/recommendations
  • You can use paid ads to reach your target audience
  • A Facebook page is accessible to everyone, even if they are not yet a fan
  • With a company profile, data such as address, opening hours, mission and location are visible
  • The updates/messages are posted on behalf of the company and not on behalf of one/one person
  • Updates/messages can be scheduled and published automatically
  • You have the option to create events, offers, products and notes, among other things
  • Option for a welcome message where you can invite visitors to like your Facebook page
  • And many more (business) opportunities to promote (brand awareness) of your company…..

How do you change a personal Facebook profile to Facebook page?

When you convert your personal Facebook profile into a Facebook page, a new Facebook page is created based on your personal Facebook profile. PAY ATTENTION! You can only convert your personal Facebook profile into a Facebook page once.

To convert your personal account into a Facebook page:

Log in with your personal Facebook profile, go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/create/migrate click on “Get Started ” and follow the instructions on the screen.

PLEASE NOTE: Think carefully about the company name that you enter for your business Facebook page, it will be visible on the page and can no longer be changed if your Facebook page has more than 200 like(r)s / fans !

Convert your personal Facebook profile to a (business) Facebook page:

  • After conversion, you have a personal Facebook profile and a Facebook page
  • Your profile picture and cover photo will be transferred to the Facebook page
  • All your friends and followers will be converted into people who like your Facebook page

Be patient… when you have converted your personal Facebook profile to a (business) Facebook page, it can take a while before all your friends are converted to like(r)s/fans.

Good luck!

Email Address vs. Contact Form

Do you also make this mistake on your website?

On almost every website you have an option to contact us. On many websites we see a common mistake there: stating the e-mail address. You can then click on this e-mail address to easily send a message. But is this really that simple? And is this really so wise? Read in this blog about the disadvantages of stating your email address on your website.

spam

If you have a website, it will also have your e-mail address listed somewhere on that site. You have done this so that visitors to your site can contact you. However, if your e-mail address is ‘open and exposed’ on your website, it can easily fall into the hands of spammers.

So-called SpamBots scour the internet for websites that contain email addresses that you can click on. If you can click on an e-mail address to send a message to it, a so-called mailto: tag has been added to the link in the code of the web page . And just for this feature search SpamBots. If they have discovered your e-mail address, there is a good chance that you will receive unwanted e-mail messages from, for example, Viagra providers and other sexist related messages, we call this Spam.

To prevent SpamBots from discovering your email address in this way, you can choose not to put any contact details on your website at all, but I don’t think that is the best solution. Another solution is a complicated piece of ASCII / JavaScript code that makes your e-mail address visible and possibly clickable, but not interceptable by SpamBots. But.. there is an even better solution. The best solution and the most user-friendly solution to let visitors get in touch with you is to place a contact form . Visitors to your website can enter these and therefore your e-mail address is not visible. So no SPAM and more user-friendly.

No email software

What actually happens when visitors to your site click on the link of your email address? An e-mail program such as Outlook is opened. But what if a visitor does not use e-mail software installed on the computer and instead uses online mail such as Gmail, Hotmail or Live? Then starting up such mail software is disruptive and causes annoyance to your visitors. An e-mail address as a link is therefore not recommended. Use a contact form.

Obligated

Strictly speaking (very strictly speaking), it is mandatory to state an e-mail address (or as the law calls it: an electronic mail address) on your website / webshop. Visitors to your site should be able to contact you directly in at least two ways. Then you can use an e-mail address and, for example, your telephone number. If you still want to mention your e-mail address, you can choose (to make it not clickable) to encode it with a so-called ASCII or JavaScript code. You can do this via the AntiSpamWeb website. The WordPress plugin mentioned below does the exact same thing only fully automatically across the site and retroactively.

WordPress plugin

If you have a WordPress website or webshop, the WordPress plugin ‘ Email Address Encoder ‘ is recommended. This is a WordPress plugin to protect email addresses and mailto: links from SpamBots. The plugin does this by encoding the email addresses (based on the @) and mailto: links in decimal and hexadecimal values. Link or no link, this plugin encrypts your email address.

In short: do you only have an email address on your website that visitors can click on? Then know that this causes SPAM in your mailbox and is not user-friendly. Make sure you place a contact form where visitors can easily identify themselves. With a contact form you can send what information you want from visitors, so that you receive all relevant information.

The advantages and disadvantages of a ready-made web design package

Choose what best suits your goals and your (growth) wishes!

Nowadays you have a wide range of free web packages on the internet. Packages with which you can easily create a website or webshop yourself. It is a ready-made system for which you often pay an x amount monthly to the maker of the system. An ideal solution for a starting entrepreneur, at least it seems so. Often these are packages without personal support and where you can find possible answers to questions in a so-called forum.

And is free really free? In addition to paying a monthly amount, you have no personal contact and you pay the main prize for realizing (small) wishes, because this is custom work. A ready-made web package is what it is. No more and no less. Definitely a good start, but choose what best suits your goals and wishes!

“How I regretted that and now I can start all over again”.

In recent years I have seen many entrepreneurs pass by who afterwards regret that they have invested time and money in a web package that did not match their objectives and growth wishes. But what is the alternative? Build a website yourself? Most entrepreneurs have no taste for this or simply do not have the time for it. Have a website built? Doesn’t that cost a fortune?

Ready-to-use web package versus customization

Ready-to-use web package
With a ready-to-use web package you always have to deal with a monthly subscription. You actually ‘rent’ the web package from the supplier. Often such web packages come with a number of standard designs. Designs that you can personalize a little here and there, but in my view will never fully match your wishes and expectations. Some advantages of ready-made web packages are: MijnWinkel.nl, Strato, SEOShop, MijnWebwinkel, Luondo, Weebly and Wix.

Customization

With the ‘customization’ type, a distinction can be made between OpenSource and CustomBuild. An OpenSource is a (Content Management System – CMS) system that is maintained by several thousand people worldwide. In addition to maintaining this system, thousands of functionalities are also being developed and maintained for it. Features offered for 99% FREE. Think of functionalities such as forms, google maps, video, photo album, slideshow, newsletter, agenda etc.. ect.. Some well-known examples of such OpenSource CMS systems are WordPress, Joomla, Typo3 and Drupal. They all do what they have to do, but the big difference often lies in the user-friendliness of the system.

CustomBuild (or ClosedSource) is a (CMS) system that is created and maintained by a web builder. However, this is also the main disadvantage: maintaining the system is often an afterthought, because money is earned by developing websites and not by maintaining the system. Another disadvantage of a CustomBuild system is that functionalities are often limited. It also applies here that making such functionalities is an afterthought and wishes always concern customization. You can imagine that a web builder does not make a functionality for a single customer, or the customer has to pay a lot of money for that.

A big difference between OpenSource and CustomBuild systems is the freedom the customer has. When a website or a webshop is built in a CustomBuild system, you as a customer are always tied to the maker of the system. You can’t simply say goodbye and relocate your website somewhere else that same day. This is no problem at all with OpenSource systems such as WordPress, Joomla, Typo3 and Drupal.

Ready-to-use web package versus customization

And what’s best now?
Each system has its advantages and disadvantages. I have already mentioned some of these. Before you make a choice, it is important to review your goals and wishes for now and in the future. It turns out that not every system can meet this requirement. If you want to start a webshop just to do it “just for a while” or on a very small scale, a ready-made web package can offer a solution. You have to ask yourself whether you want a system with limitations or a system with possibilities. Always choose a system that matches your goals and your wishes and a system that you can freely adapt, completely to your wishes – or even better the wishes of your target group.

With ready-made web packages you are often limited in your search engine optimization (SEO). The makers of ready-made web packages do their best to accommodate this, but will never be able to make their software 100% search engine friendly. On the one hand because the technology moves faster than they can deliver new versions and on the other hand because every user / site owner wants to set up his or her search engine optimization in a different way.

Furthermore, a good Online Strategy means that you want your website or webshop to match the wishes and expectations of its visitors better and better. After all, you made the site for them. You want them to take a certain action, for example requesting a brochure, filling in a contact form or a direct purchase in your shop. To make your website or webshop even better and to allow visitors to take action more often and faster, this means that you regularly make adjustments. Think of certain (color) buttons or the layout of, for example, the product page or the order page. With a ready-made web package and a CustomBuild system this is not so easy, in fact it is often not even possible.

A ready-made web package may offer a solution in the beginning, but if you want to take your company a step further, you will soon run into limitations. Whatever you choose, make sure you have at least thought about it and choose a package/system that fits your goals and growth needs. Do you opt for a package/system with limitations or with possibilities? It’s a matter of what do you want now and what do you want later.

Finally

It’s a world of comparing apples and oranges. Especially for a layman there are sometimes few differences and they only see a price. Basically all systems do what they are supposed to do. However, the big difference often lies in the user-friendliness and the possibilities.

It won’t surprise you by now that I’m personally not a fan of ready-made web packages, nor of CustomBuild systems. You probably noticed that by the tone of my writing. Within MalshiSEO Marketing we have therefore chosen to develop all our web projects in WordPress in combination with WooCommerce as webshop functionality. The advantages of this are that it is free, gets continuous updates and there is a large community that serves as a source of information and helpdesk.

Choose to be elected

We have chosen WordPress within MalshiSEO Marketing and are therefore able to serve and support our customers on all fronts. As a customer of MalshiSEO Marketing you receive personal support and tailor-made advice. To this end, we organize a number of meetings each year to transfer knowledge, inform our customers about developments in our field and take joint actions to achieve objectives. Our customers do not opt for a web package or system but for a cooperation partner. You don’t manage a website or webshop alone, you do it together. We love bundling / combining knowledge. Where we know a lot about web development and online marketing, our customers know everything about their own company and the target group. By combining this knowledge, you jointly achieve goals. That is why we develop websites and webshop for our customers in WordPress in combination with WooCommerce, we transfer our knowledge and we support our customers in bringing the website / webshop to the attention of the target group.

Web design by MalshiSEO Marketing: not for everyone

Web design by MalshiSEO Marketing: not for everyone. That is a strange sentence and perhaps strange. But it is in line with our vision. In recent years we have built hundreds of websites and webshops and it always turned out that personal contact is very important. Don’t be a number to each other, but take the time for each other. Get together regularly to go through the whole thing, combine knowledge and take joint actions.

Are you planning to create a website or webshop soon or do you now have an existing website or webshop and are you faced with the choice to choose a suitable system or cooperation partner? I am open to a completely non-binding conversation to explain the possibilities in the field of web packages and web systems in a personal conversation.

What’s on a good contact page?

Pay close attention to your contact page.

A contact page is an important page for many websites. It is the page from which visitors get information to get in touch with you. Last week I was asked what a good contact page should meet. What is actually on a good contact page? Are you taking advantage of all the opportunities of the contact page? Read more about this in this blog article.

An inviting page

I notice that many websites and webshops pay little or no attention to their contact page. One contact page is clear and well-arranged, the other is not. Some sites don’t even have a contact page at all. In my view, a good contact page is an inviting page with all relevant contact details that visitors to your website need to get in touch with you.

A good, complete and personal contact page ensures trust.

What’s on most contact pages is just a boring headline like “Contact Us”, “Contact Us” or “Contact Us” and immediately their contact details. Not exactly appealing. Think of something that appeals to visitors to your website, something they would like.. Something they can achieve with your product(s) or service(s).. For example, the second headline on our contact page is: Getting optimal results from your online marketing? Followed by an inviting text to get in touch. It is important to mention the page in the menu ‘ Contact ‘. This is what it is and web visitors automatically search for this on a website or webshop.

Overview of all relevant contact details

Most web visitors want plenty of options when it comes to contacting them. Some prefer to call, others prefer to send an e-mail. Some things are even mandatory on a contact page. For example, always the full company name, business address, telephone number and an e-mail address. Personally, I would also post your Chamber of Commerce, your VAT number and a contact form.

A contact form

If you ask me, a contact form on the contact page is a must. However, often contact forms on the contact page are much too long and information is requested that visitors do not just want to give to a ‘stranger’. For example, their address, zip code and city name. As a web owner you have to ask yourself whether you already need all this information from your visitor. Often a name, an e-mail address and the question/message is sufficient. The main thing is that web visitors make themselves known, contact you. The other information may come at a later stage. Make your contact form(s) accessible, so that as many web visitors as possible (read: potential customers ) fill them in to contact you.

In all likelihood, your web visitors also regularly receive advertisements to their e-mail address (so-called spam). One of the texts that you can place with a contact form is the guarantee that the entered e-mail address will only be used to answer the question.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Web visitors who come to your contact page often have a question. You could collect questions that you have previously received and make a so-called ‘frequently asked questions’ (FAQ) overview on your website or webshop and refer to it from the contact page. This way you avoid having to send the same answer several times and it saves web visitors a lot of typing when their question is already in the overview.

A personal contact page

If you are self-employed or a small company, it is good to also make yourself and your team visible on the contact page. A photo with your name and possibly your direct contact details is recommended and inspires confidence. In this way your website gets a face and it becomes personal.

I also think an introductory text on the contact page is very important. So don’t start immediately with your contact details, but address your web visitors and invite them to contact you. Let them know they can ask questions you’d be happy to answer. Of course you don’t have to patronize your customers, but on some websites and webshops the contact details are very hidden, as if a web visitor is not allowed to contact you. Be open and inviting.

Not a standard image

What is really impossible on a contact page today is an image of a beautiful operator with a headset. A so-called free (Stockphoto) photo. Such images are used on hundreds of other sites. Make it personal and let them know who to expect on the phone when web visitors reach out.

Interactive Google Maps map

If you have a physical store or company where you like to receive people, then of course they also need to know where to find you. You can then write the route description or place a Google Maps map (route map) on the contact page. Make sure that web visitors can click on the Google Maps card so that they can view and print directions from their location. An invitation to click on the Google Maps card is often placed under the Google Maps card itself.

In fact, you place all the information on which you can be reached on the contact page. Do you work with opening hours? Then you also put this on the contact page. Web visitors expect to find such data here. And on a website or webshop, nothing is more important than meeting the expectations of your web visitors.

Don’t make ‘separate pages’ of everything. So not a separate page for contact details, a separate page with directions and another page with your opening hours. Integrate everything into a single contact page.

Photo of your company

If you have a property, it is advisable to post a photo of your property on the contact page. This exudes confidence because web visitors know how to do business with a physical company.

Many freelancers run their businesses from home. If you do not receive customers at home, it makes no sense to place a photo of your house on the contact page. Posting a photo of yourself – and your home office, for example – can have the same effect as posting a photo of a property. In my opinion, it is therefore better to emphasize the advantages of you as a small entrepreneur than to pretend to be a large company. Be open and personal.

The place of a contact page

The correct place for the menu item ‘contact’ is always on the right – as the last menu item – with a horizontal menu and always at the bottom – as the last menu item –with a vertical menu. If you put the menu item ‘contact’ somewhere in the middle of the menu, web visitors often overlook it. They then become frustrated when they cannot (quickly) find the contact page. The menu item ‘Contact’ as the last menu item is a so-called web standard, just like the logo is always at the top left of the website and refers (clickable) to the homepage. Web visitors want to be taken by the hand. They want to be sent. They want and expect certain things to be in standard places. They want it to be made as easy as possible for them. In short: the contact page is always the last menu item.

thank you page

Important is the message that web visitors see once they have completed and sent the contact form. Doubt sometimes arises as to whether everything went well and whether the completed form has actually been sent. Personally, I would show a thank you page. A page that states that the form has actually been sent, that a copy of the form has been sent to their own e-mail address (recommended to facilitate this) and that they can always contact you if they have (additional) questions. For example, also let them know when they can expect a response from you. Do not make false promises in this. It is better to say that you respond within two business days and then within a few hours, than when you promise to respond within 24 hours and then don’t.

Such a thank you page is also very important to keep the customer on the site longer. For example, at an online store you can show items that are on sale. And for a website with a blog, for example, the last five blog posts. In this way, the web visitor stays longer on your site and more information about your company, your products and your services is taken in.

Contact details not only on the contact page

In several blog articles I have often written that contact details do not only belong on a contact page, but on every page . On every page, you should give your visitors the opportunity to contact you. So don’t just put a link to the contact page, but put your most important contact details on all pages, such as your telephone number or a user-friendly contact form.

Open and personal

Your contact page is an important page. Be open and personal here ! The more contact details you place on your contact page, the more options you offer web visitors to get in touch. The more contact details, the greater the trust.

Separate blog and separate website

Do you already share knowledge in the most effective way?

You have probably already been told that sharing knowledge is important. It is also known as blogging. Blogging is important for your (online) business for a number of reasons. One of these is creating an expert status and the other important is being found in search engines and a flow of visitors to your website. And it is precisely on this important point that a wrong choice is often made.

Share your knowledge

Many starting entrepreneurs – and also large companies – use a so-called Open Source system. Open Source gives a web builder and web owner a lot of freedom in making a web design and deploying functionalities, something that is often not possible with a closed system (made by the individual web builder).

One in ten websites today is built in WordPress. And because the roots of WordPress are a blog system – with which the most beautiful and advanced websites and webshops are built today – a blog is often set up separately from the website. This while most CMS packages nowadays support a blog function. Some well-known blogging platforms are – in addition to WordPress – BlogSpot and Blogger.

But what is the disadvantage of a separate website and a separate blog?

Giving and Selling

In basic share your knowledge on your blog. Your blog is a platform where you can show visitors and experience that you are an expert / specialist in your field. Blogging is all about sharing and giving knowledge. The people who read your blog will benefit. They get their knowledge and inspiration from this. And nowadays we also like to let our network – Social Media – know where they should be. A link that someone places to your blog in his or her social media is a warm recommendation to his or her network. So far great of course… All links to your blog, a lot of visitors to your blog. A place where you give and share knowledge, but.. often have nothing for sale. After all, your range of services and products is on your website. And often it is the case that on your website you only have something for sale and nothing to share / give away and that on your blog you only have something to give away and nothing for sale.

“Integrating the blog into your website ensures optimal findability and more visitors”.

Now I hear you think, yes but .. I have a link on my blog to my site and vice versa. But in practice this turns out not to work. Visitors who are looking for your knowledge in Google or who have been referred to your blog by others via Social Media have – in the first instance – no need for your commercial pages. Unless the environment in which the blog is displayed provides grounds for clicking through to your offer. However, visitors to your blog will rarely, if ever, click on the link to your website. After all, they have taken in the knowledge and every good blog gives rise to action to apply the acquired knowledge in practice.

In addition, there is also the fact that a blog separately from your website is bad for the valuation of your website. Over the past two years, Google has made some significant updates. These included the Google Panda Update, the Google Penguin Update and the Google Hummingbird Update in short: the Google Zoo. Updates that encourage website owners to keep their website moving. An active website. For a search engine like Google, standing still is by definition going backwards. A website must adhere to ARI: Current, Relevant and Informative . I often compare it to a newspaper. Suppose you are subscribed to a newspaper and the exact same newspaper falls every dayon the doormat. With exactly the same images and exactly the same texts. There’s nothing new… I bet you will soon cancel the subscription. Google does that too, which cancels your website’s subscription. And the period that Google comes to look again (indexing) is increasing. On the other hand, your blog is becoming easier to find, at least the supplier of the blog. For findability and the appreciation of Google, it is extremely important that your blog and your website are one. It then becomes a kind of cross-pollination of the site and the blog.

The best of both worlds in one

It will therefore not surprise you that we go for an integral whole. The combination of both worlds in one place. One place where knowledge is shared and services and products are offered. This has the great advantage that the website and the blog look the same in terms of corporate identity. And I don’t mean showing your blog on your site via a so-called iframe, but really one whole: website and blog are one. It is a consistent whole. And perhaps more importantly, by placing your blog articles on your website – which ensures a lot of traffic – this ensures optimal findability in search engines. Something you can’t take advantage of when the website and blog are separated. Almost no visitor shares a commercial page,

In short: bring your blog and your website together and enjoy optimal findability, the sharing of blog articles within Social Media – and thus indirectly your commercial pages – and an enormous flow of visitors to your website on which your blog is located.

What is Managed WordPress Hosting?

Managed WordPress Hosting . What is it exactly? What are the advantages and what is different from ‘normal’ hosting? And are there any drawbacks? The principle of Managed WordPress hosting is that you can fully focus on your WordPress website / webshop (and business) and you do not have to worry about the technical matters / work behind your WordPress website / webshop. WordPress Managed Hosting is Speed, Convenience, Security and Premium Service & Support.

In addition to developing websites, webshops and web applications, MalshiSEO offers the possibility to host your website / webshop / web application (exclusively for its customers) on one of the many powerful web servers that are managed by experienced network administrators. But what is Hosting? Simply put, web hosting is renting web space on a web server that contains the files that make up your website or webshop. A web server is a computer that is connected to the internet 24/7 and is located in a data center that is specially set up for this. The web server makes it possible for visitors to view your website / webshop.

What is ‘regular’ WordPress Hosting’?

What is ‘regular’ WordPress Hosting? For most websites and webshops with a few ten to hundreds of visitors per day, this is a so-called Shared WordPress Hosting. Shared WordPress Hosting means that your website, webshop or web application runs on a web server with other websites and webshops of other customers. Literally said; you share the hosting/web server. Incidentally, our Shared WordPress Hosting web servers are also ‘Managed’, but in the sense that we – the hosting provider – only update the web server and do not maintain your WordPress website or webshop.

But what is Managed WordPress Hosting?

Managed WordPress Hosting providers generally distinguish themselves in four parts compared to general (WordPress) Hosting: Speed, Convenience, Security and Service & Support . In order to continuously improve / optimize these four components, in addition to work on the web server, measures must (often) be taken in and around WordPress itself. In short: we take the technical part of your website, webshop or web application off your hands.

Speed
fast website/webshop leads to a higher conversion (desired action) and higher positions in the search results of search engines such as Google . We as Managed WordPress Hosting provider uses various techniques and software to get your website, webshop and/or web application faster. Usually one or more forms of so-called caching are available. Caching is basically the faster display of (web) documents, such as web pages, images and other types of web multimedia, to reduce server delay and quickly show your website/webshop to your visitors. In addition, it is usually the case that with Managed WordPress Hosting you have more resources (memory, CPU, cores) available for your website/webshop. For optimum speed, we work with special software on the websites/web shops/web applications and on our web servers.

Convenience
Maintaining a website, webshop and/or web application takes time and requires precision and planning. Maintaining – and thus keeping WordPress and plugins up-to-date – is important to guarantee optimal speed and security of your website / webshop . By purchasing Managed WordPress Hosting you make it easier for yourself. Activities such as automatic and/or periodic updates, (daily – up to several times a day) backups, and security are taken care of by us through Managed WordPress Hosting.

Security
Perhaps the most important security factor for WordPress is keeping WordPress, plugins (features) and themes up to date. Think of a strong password policy, an SSL security certificate / padlock in the address bar and updates. Several times a week, updates are performed automatically – and partly manually – to our customers’ websites, web shops and web applications, as well as to our web servers. In addition, our systems automatically scan for so-called malware, infections and viruses in order to be able to intervene at an early stage. For optimal security , we work with special software on the websites / web shops / web applications and on our web servers, which are managed by experienced network administrators

Service / Support
Because we as a Managed WordPress Hosting Provider only host WordPress websites, webshops and web applications, we are able to help you on all fronts. We call that Premium Support ; both technically and substantively. You can also leave the installation, configuration and integration of a new plug-in (functionality) and theme to us. We are happy to explain how the plugin / theme works and make the necessary adjustments to your website / plugin / theme where necessary to make it match your corporate identity. WordPress offers thousands of plugins. We are happy to advise which plug-in meets your wishes and expectations. We know which plugins have a bad influence on performance or which are very useful for your website / webshop. In addition, you can use some so-called WordPress Premium Plug-ins (paid plugins) for which we have a license. On average, with our Managed Hosting subscriptions you get more than 500 euros worth of WordPress Premium Plug-ins.

The principle of Managed WordPress hosting is that you can fully focus on your WordPress website / webshop (and business) and you do not have to worry about the technical matters / work behind your WordPress website / webshop. WordPress Managed Hosting: Speed, Convenience, Security and Premium Service & Support.

Are there any drawbacks to WordPress Managed Hosting?

The above are some advantages of Managed WordPress Hosting, but are there also disadvantages? And can they really be called disadvantages?

You give away all control
Since we take care of all technical matters, you have little or no influence on this yourself. This is of course the intention since it is “Managed”, but if you like to be involved with the technical side yourself, this may not be useful. A lot is possible in consultation (who does what) when we make clear agreements about this.

Limited to WordPress
The web servers where your website / webshop is located is completely set up for WordPress. No other websites, webshops and web applications are run on it than WordPress. If you want to run a different kind of website, webshop or web applications, the web server is not set up for this. This does not have to be a problem, in consultation and cooperation with our partners a lot is possible.

Not all plugins/themes are allowed.
As a Managed WordPress Hosting Provider, we don’t allow all WordPress plugins/themes. The reason for this is that certain WordPress plugins / themes strongly influence the performance of your website / webshop. Even that of the entire web server. This shouldn’t be much of a problem unless you really want to use a plugin/theme that is ‘blocked’. Then we will be happy to advise you and help you further. Or we program the desired functionality entirely for you.

It costs more money
Managed WordPress Hosting costs more than ‘normal’ shared Hosting. Due to the above advantages – work – you probably understand why the price is more expensive.

Managed WordPress hosting

Managed WordPress hosting has many advantages and a lot of (added) value to offer. However, it is not a hosting package that is necessary for everyone. If you just want to make a (travel) blog, you don’t need Managed WordPress hosting immediately. Normal WordPress hosting is a lot cheaper and also works fine. However, you are responsible for security, speed, updates and all other technical matters. Do you have a company or do you have a website / webshop with many visitors every day and your website / webshop is an important source of income for you, then definitely choose Managed WordPress Hosting. Even if you have no technical knowledge, it can become a problem if your website / webshop is growing. Eventually you will grow out of your ‘normal’ hosting package. You can hire someone who will arrange everything for you or you can opt for Managed WordPress Hosting.
